# Coldlytics > Coldlytics is sales intelligence for Main Street: owners, verified contacts and deep data on every local business the big databases miss. Its proprietary database (Voyager DB) profiles millions of small businesses from their own websites and Google listings, with verified decision-maker emails and direct dials, and a human research team fills the niches the database runs thin on. Every email is verified before it's billed, backed by a bounce-free guarantee. Key facts: - Instant database search (Voyager DB) with filters for location and ZIP codes, 325 business categories, residential or commercial customer type, revenue, headcount, number of locations, Google reviews, technologies, ad pixels, website features (video, online booking, live chat, online payments, online store), service offerings stated on the website (24/7 emergency, free estimates, financing, maintenance plans, published pricing), credentials (licensed, insured, bonded, BBB accredited, manufacturer certified and more), brands carried, languages served, hiring (now, and which functions), an AI website score and footer copyright year. Website-read signals come from each company's own site and cover a growing share of the database. A People tab searches decision-makers by job title, department and seniority with a Contacts per Company cap. - Every company profile shows technographics, website signals, offerings, credentials, brands, hiring, every location with its Google Maps rankings, and ownership the business declares itself (family-, women-, veteran-owned and so on, with the source). Ownership is a profile data point, not a filter. - On-demand human research (Contact Research) when the database doesn't cover a niche: up to 1,000 verified leads within 24 hours on business days. - Every email address is validated (via ZeroBounce) before the customer pays for it; bounces and mistargeted leads are flagged in-app and credited back. - Credit-based pricing: 1 credit per verified database reveal (email or direct dial), 5 credits per hand-researched contact. Free plan includes 25 leads per month, no card required. - Integrations: send contacts to Instantly, Smartlead, lemlist, Clay, HighLevel and Pipedrive, or export CSV free. Team seats on every paid plan, self-serve suppression lists, works on phones. - MCP server (https://mcp.coldlytics.com/mcp) for Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code and Cursor, and a REST API v3. - Serves primarily English-speaking countries: USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Everything a customer can do by hand, an agent can do on their behalf: search companies and decision-makers, reveal verified emails and direct dials, read the contacts they own, and launch human research tasks. There are two doors in, backed by the same engine: - **MCP server** for AI assistants and agent tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, and anything that speaks the Model Context Protocol). Users connect with their Coldlytics login, or with an API key. - **REST API v3** for your own code, documented with OpenAPI and authenticated with named API keys. ## What you can do | Capability | MCP tool | REST | | --- | --- | --- | | Account, credits and limits | `get_account` | `GET /v3/account` | | Filter vocabularies (locations, categories, technologies, seniorities) | `get_search_options` | `GET /v3/search/options` | | Search companies | `search_companies` | `POST /v3/search/companies` | | Search people (decision-makers) | `search_people` | `POST /v3/search/people` | | Look up one company by domain | `lookup_company` | `GET /v3/companies/lookup` | | Reveal a verified email and direct dial | `reveal_contact` | `POST /v3/reveals` | | Reveal many people in the background | `reveal_contacts`, `get_reveal_run` | `/v3/reveal-runs` | | Find one person's email from name and domain | `find_email` | `POST /v3/emails/find` | | Contacts you own | `list_contacts`, `get_contact` | `/v3/contacts` | | Human research tasks | `launch_research`, `get_research_task`, `list_research_tasks` | `/v3/research-tasks` | | Suppression list (emails and domains to leave out) | `list_suppression_list`, `add_to_suppression_list`, `remove_from_suppression_list` | `/v3/suppression-list` | ## Pricing is the same everywhere Credits pay for contact data whichever door you use: 1 credit per verified email reveal, 1 credit per direct dial, 5 credits per hand-researched contact. Searching is free within a monthly allowance. Tools that spend credits are marked as such, so assistants ask before they run them. ## Start here - [Connect an AI assistant (MCP)](/developers/mcp) - [Use the REST API](/developers/api) - [API reference](https://api.coldlytics.com/docs) and [OpenAPI document](https://api.coldlytics.com/v3/openapi.json) - Create API keys and manage connected apps under **Integrations → API & MCP** in the [dashboard](https://app.coldlytics.com/dashboard/integrations/api-key) Questions or a client we should support? Email [support@coldlytics.com](mailto:support@coldlytics.com). # Connect an AI assistant (https://www.coldlytics.com/developers/mcp) The Coldlytics MCP server lets an AI assistant work with your Coldlytics account in conversation: "find owners of plumbing companies in Austin", "reveal the top ten", "look up acme.com", "launch a research task for these 40 domains". **Server URL:** `https://mcp.coldlytics.com/mcp` (Streamable HTTP) **Authentication:** sign in with your Coldlytics account (OAuth 2.1 with PKCE; supports Client ID Metadata Documents and dynamic client registration), or an API key sent as `Authorization: Bearer cl_live_…` for clients that cannot do OAuth. ## Claude 1. In Claude, open **Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector**. 2. Enter `https://mcp.coldlytics.com/mcp` and confirm. 3. Claude opens a Coldlytics sign-in. Approve the access you want to grant. You can disconnect at any time from **Integrations → API & MCP** in the dashboard. ## Claude Code ``` claude mcp add --transport http coldlytics https://mcp.coldlytics.com/mcp ``` Then run `/mcp` inside Claude Code to sign in. ## ChatGPT 1. **Settings → Connectors → Advanced → Developer mode** (on). 2. Create a connector with the server URL above and OAuth authentication. 3. Sign in to Coldlytics when prompted. Note that ChatGPT only lets Business and Enterprise workspaces run write tools such as reveals and research launches; Pro can search and look up. ## Cursor and other MCP clients ```json { "mcpServers": { "coldlytics": { "url": "https://mcp.coldlytics.com/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer cl_live_YOUR_KEY" } } } } ``` Create the key under **Integrations → API & MCP** in the dashboard, with only the scopes the client needs. ## Tools | Tool | What it does | Credits | | --- | --- | --- | | `get_account` | Subscription, credit balance, monthly search allowance | none | | `get_search_options` | Valid values for locations, categories, technologies, seniorities, departments, research data points | none | | `search_companies` | Companies by keywords and filters | none, within the monthly allowance | | `search_people` | Decision-makers at matching companies, by seniority, department or title | none, within the allowance | | `lookup_company` | One company's profile, branches and revealable people by domain | none, within the allowance | | `reveal_contact` | Verified email (and optionally direct dial) for one person, saved to your Contacts | 1 per email, 1 per dial; owned people are free | | `reveal_contacts` / `get_reveal_run` | Reveal a large batch of people in the background and follow progress | per verified email and dial | | `find_email` | One person's verified email from name and company domain | 1 when a verified email is returned | | `list_contacts` / `get_contact` | Contacts you own, with every email and dial | none | | `launch_research` / `get_research_task` / `list_research_tasks` | Human research for 20+ companies or people, up to 1,000 leads within 24 hours on business days | 5 per contact requested, booked at launch | | `list_suppression_list` / `add_to_suppression_list` / `remove_from_suppression_list` | Read and update the account's suppression list of emails and company domains | none | Every tool that spends credits is annotated so the assistant asks before running it. Searches share the account's monthly allowance with the Chrome extension; the dashboard itself is never capped. ## Scopes `account:read`, `search:read`, `contacts:read`, `reveals:write`, `research:read`, `research:write`. Team seats can only grant what their seat is allowed to do. Searches accept the same filters as the dashboard: locations and ZIP codes, business categories, customer type, headcount and revenue ranges, technologies, ad pixels (`ad_pixels` for Facebook, Google, LinkedIn and TikTok), Google review count and rating, and `max_per_company` to cap people per company. `search_people` and `list_contacts` take the person filters (seniority, department, job title) too. ## For client developers - Protected resource metadata: `https://mcp.coldlytics.com/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp` - Authorization server metadata: `https://app.coldlytics.com/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server` - The server is stateless (JSON-RPC over POST); long work returns a run or task id to poll. # REST API (https://www.coldlytics.com/developers/api) The Coldlytics REST API v3 exposes the same capabilities as the MCP server for your own code: search, lookups, reveals, contacts and research tasks. - **Base URL:** `https://api.coldlytics.com` - **Reference:** [api.coldlytics.com/docs](https://api.coldlytics.com/docs) (interactive) and the [OpenAPI 3.1 document](https://api.coldlytics.com/v3/openapi.json) ## Authentication Create a named API key under **Integrations → API & MCP** in the dashboard and pick only the scopes it needs. Send it as a bearer token: ``` curl https://api.coldlytics.com/v3/account \ -H "Authorization: Bearer cl_live_YOUR_KEY" ``` `X-Api-Key: cl_live_YOUR_KEY` works too. Keys are shown once at creation and can be revoked at any time. OAuth access tokens issued for MCP clients are accepted on every endpoint as well. ## Conventions - JSON in and out; list endpoints return `{ "data": [...], "meta": { "page", "page_size", "total", "has_more" } }`. - Errors are RFC 9457 `application/problem+json` with a stable `code` you can branch on: `unauthenticated`, `invalid_key`, `insufficient_scope`, `forbidden_seat`, `validation_error`, `not_found`, `rate_limited`, `monthly_cap_reached`, `insufficient_credits` (402), `subscription_required`, `idempotency_key_reused`, `search_timeout`. - Per-key burst limits are reported in `X-RateLimit-*` headers; searches also count against the account's monthly allowance (see `GET /v3/account`). - Credit-spending writes (`POST /v3/reveal-runs`, `POST /v3/research-tasks`) accept an `Idempotency-Key` header so a retried request never charges twice. ## Example: owners of plumbing companies in Austin ``` curl https://api.coldlytics.com/v3/search/people \ -H "Authorization: Bearer cl_live_YOUR_KEY" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{ "query": "plumbers", "filters": { "locations": ["Austin, TX, USA"] }, "seniorities": { "include": ["OWNERS_FOUNDERS"] }, "page_size": 25 }' ``` Each person carries a `contact_id`; reveal one with `POST /v3/reveals { "contact_id": 123, "include_dial": true }`. ## Delivery webhooks Research tasks launched with a `webhook_url` receive a `POST` with the delivered contacts as JSON when the task completes. Every delivery carries: - `Coldlytics-Event: research.delivered` - `Coldlytics-Delivery: ` - `Coldlytics-Signature: t=,v1=` The secret is on **Integrations → API & MCP**. Verify the signature over the raw request body and reject timestamps older than five minutes. ## Legacy v1/v2 The pre-2026 endpoints (`/v1/tasks/enrich`, `/v2/tasks/enrich/companies`, `/v2/tasks/enrich/people`, `/v2/user`, HTTP Basic with the account key) continue to work unchanged for existing integrations. New work should use v3.
