• How to Get Contacts for Cold Email

When it comes to finding clients or making sales online, there’s no channel we prefer more than cold email. It’s fast, it’s versatile, and it’s cheap.

Despite being simpler than many other strategies, cold email can still be a bit complicated when setting up the proper infrastructure. You can’t simply dump 10k contacts into Mailchimp and start blasting—you’d destroy your sender reputation and eventually get kicked off their platform.

Over the years, I’ve sent over 3,000,000 cold emails and added hundreds of millions in pipeline value. With Coldlytics, I’ve helped plenty of agencies and sales teams use our data to power their cold email efforts.

Today, I’m going to share with you my 5 favorite cold email software for keeping deliverability high and bringing in new business.

What Should You Look for in Cold Email Software?

First and foremost, you can’t just find the cheapest or best email marketing platform and upload your cold leads. Most of them are designed for warm email sends, where they expect that your list has opted in to hear from you. They don’t worry about warming up your list.

On the contrary, a good cold email software is designed specifically to help you help you get delivered to inboxes, even to contacts that have never heard from you.

Here’s what you need to consider when considering platforms:

• Email warmup - This is a foundational feature of cold email platforms. They’ll begin sending emails in small batches from your account and slowly ramp it up over a few weeks. A good software will have a network of email addresses you’ll send to, which emulate humans in interacting with your emails.
• Account rotation - Success with cold email requires sending a low volume from many different email accounts. A great platform will automatically rotate between your accounts, meaning you only have to set up one email.
• Ongoing deliverability features - To keep your emails delivering to nboxes, cold email software will have features such as email validation, send limit detection, blacklist detection, custom domain tracking, and more.
• Built-in automation - Most platforms allow you to set up a sequence of emails and even remove contacts once they’ve responded.
• Personalization features - Since personalized emails are opened 82% more than non-personalized emails, your chosen cold email software should be able to handle this.
• Cost - Of course, costs will vary between platforms. Be sure to check how many email accounts and domains you’re allowed to have, or if you’re charged for each one. That’s one of the biggest pricing variables.
• Reporting - If you can’t get full insight into how your campaign is working, then you’re not using the right software.

You get more free warm-up accounts included in the price as you scale to higher plans. However, there’s a reason they’re trusted by over 13,000 users: they understand deliverability.
